Although primarily now a graphic designer, my degrees are in music, and I still guest lecture at both the University of Birmingham and Birmingham Conservatoire, where I specialize in the principles of tonal composition, aural training, baroque music and the history of opera.
For design purposes, I can compose pieces of music or sound effects for use within Flash™ presentations, etc. I present a small sample of the music I have composed for the promotion of various clients below, though please note these are all ‘performed’ by a single synthesizer in this instance. Needless to say, all music remains © Duncan Fielden 2005.
A gentle, rural, ‘film’ music loop that gets more involved each time
A gradual, yet aggressive build-up to a strident ‘fantasy’ theme
A gladitorial-feel loop with ‘electric guitar’ main theme
A baroque-style lament for ‘lute’ and ‘oboe’ (with Flash™)
Also, as a professional typesetter, I can create editions, complete with parts, either with a complete scholarly or performing score, depending on need. Some of the clients for whom I have done music editions or book examples are:
Musica
nel Chiostro, Batignagno
Hyperion Records
Cambridge University Press
Amadeus Press
Scarecrow Press, Inc.
Gabrieli Consort and Players
Birmingham Early Music Festival
Ex Cathedra
Opera Works
Various music journals
Example: a music example from a recent Cambridge Music Handbook.
